Exercise: Leisure Time

As a mental exercise, consider whether or not it would be inflationary for “new organizational entrepreneurs” to give more time off to their workers as a way of maximizing their leisure time, and their productivity. Can you counter-argue that the strategy might reduce waste, promote self-sacrifice and delayed gratification in employees, thus reducing behaviors like absenteeism, and ultimately increasing "real" productivity (For instance, The Wall Street Journal (5/15/9) identified a growing trend toward leisure time being more and more valuable to modern workers. Some workers are even buying it from their employers.)?
