Water Recycling Project Update, 7/29/09

The project seems to be moving along all fronts, but slowly.  The biggest news is acquiring the holding tank permit from DEP.  We got the permit in early July; but at that time, the contractor was hospitalized.  We are scheduled to start the installation of the 1000 gallon holding tank tomorrow (Thursday).  It will be nice to get out of the mud around the cabin, and have a convenient place to put all our wastes (including experimental stuff).  The laboratory has made a great deal of progress, and should be ready for full experimental capabilities by early fall.  It's been painted, plumbing has been established, the tank farm is nearly complete, the computer networking is in place and a variety of processing equipment (e.g., pumps, containers and filters) and materials (chemicals, charcoal, sawdust, etc.) have been obtained.  The recycling hand washer also seems to be progressing well.  HCA reports that they are revising designs through a series of critical iterations, and should be ready for actual prototype construction in a few days.  I will be working with HCA more closely as the prototype takes shape.  I also need to meet with IUP to develop some experimentation protocals for the hand washer and cabin.  I keep trying to be patient, yet aggressive.  Tom Falcone
