Exhibit I: Some Thoughts on Categorization
The more we think we understand something, the more detail we inherently add to it. As modern systems of life are understood better, scientists more clearly categorize species, typologies, parameters, variables and interrelationships. Eskimos have over a hundred words for snow for a reason. They know the subject and can categorize it accordingly. Organizing, defining and categorizing helps to clean up a lot of the mess in understanding any phenomenon, and categorization is especially useful in sorting through human, social phenomena like entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurial events and associated behavioral phenomenon are very complex and can be viewed from a number of perspectives. For instance, consider some of the abstract perspectives I've gleaned along the way that roughly correlate to some categories of study of entrepreneurship. These exhibits should help you appreciate that not only do we need new frameworks for organizing ideas, but we also need new ideas to be organized.
